Hey boo,
How's it going? I'm feeling pretty meh... There are a lot of little things I have to do now, that I really hate doing.
For example, checking the mail... ugh... You know how I feel about that! Basically, the mailbox is a bug-infested place that scares the bejeepers out of me! Usually, when my sister stops by, she will check it for me. But then I am always left wondering if she "shook the mail out" to make sure no "situations" got inside... When I check the mail, I touch it like it's a contaminated piece of nuclear waste or something, just barely holding on to a corner with only my thumb and 1 finger... And then I have to physically separate each piece of mail and shake it, to make sure that it enters the house bug free. But I still often forget to even check the mail. Sometimes a few days will go by and I will realize I haven't seen any mail in a while...
Then, there is closing the garage. I have no idea why I hate this. I think because it's kind of scary to open the door to push the button when it is dark out, and you never know who/what could be hiding in the garage. I was also scared there might be a bug on the button... :-P So now Jeff has installed a button on the inside of the house! It's actually pretty neat. And he installed a peep hole on the door leading into the garage. I've already had to use it once, when the Griffen Pest Solution guy came. (Geez, there is a lot about bugs in the email today...)
Well, since I keep talking about bugs, I guess I'll just continue with that theme...
I am warning you, if you are ever trying to send me "something" to say Hi or check on me or whatever, DO NOT SEND ANY TYPE OF BUG! I will freak out and run away. I may even attempt to kill the bug if necessary. I will scar the children with this behavior, and they will become scared of bugs too (I'm pretty sure I've already done that though).
I would think you would know already not to do this, but maybe you'd think it would be funny, who knows??? Remember when I would have a nightmare where I would kick my legs all over and scream. You'd wake me up and say "Babe, wake up, you're nightmaring..." And the next morning I'd tell you the dream was about a bug on me, or many bugs getting me, basically, something to do with bugs.
Or what about the time when Will was only a week or 2 old, and he woke up in the middle of the night. You were downstairs changing him, and I was at the top of the stairs and couldn't come down to feed him because there was a spider hanging from the ceiling that I would have to walk under. I won't even face a bug to feed my crying baby!
So clearly, sending a bug is a bad idea. I repeat, NO BUGS!
I'd also like to add NO RODENTS and NO SNAKES. (But I don't think you'd send either of those since you are scared of them too... but just in case...)
While we're talking about sending me a "sign" or whatever, try to make whatever you send EXTREMELY OBVIOUS! First, you know how unobservant I am. Remember when I look in the pantry or the fridge for something, and it will just be on a shelf not directly in front of my face, and I wouldn't see it. Remember how you would have to "stage" the pantry and fridge to make sure I saw particular things. Yeah, I don't notice things or find things very easily, so it needs to be pretty obvious and right in front of my face.
Second, I don't want to always wonder, "hmmmm, was that rainbow from you" or "was that hummingbird from you". I know the science behind these things. If the sun is at an angle and it is raining, there's probably going to be a rainbow. Maybe if that rainbow appeared in the middle of the night, or at high noon, or when there was absolutely no precipitation anywhere,or if I was the only one who could see it, then I might think it was from you. And again, hummingbirds are migrating south right now... so if it was in the middle of winter, then maybe...
So the moral of the story is, if you're going to say "Hi" somehow, you should probably just write a note and leave it on the counter, on top of my computer, or on top of a Diet Coke. Then I'd be sure to find it and read it. Anything else, and there are no guarantees!
Anyways, I'm rambling, because it's Friday night, and I have nobody to do nothing with.
I miss you.
Love!

The Most Random Email Thread Ever!
Hey boo,
How's it going? So today was my first day back to work... as I always say, it was "dumb..."
I didn't realize how much I would miss you at work, a place that you never even were! But there were so many times I wanted to email you about something that happened or what I was thinking. For a split second, I would forget and almost start a new email to you. And then I would remember... and that sucked. There was also a time that my desk phone rang, and again, I was expecting to look at the caller ID and see your number, because nobody ever calls me at work! But of course it wasn't you, it was actually a "wrong number" person...
So, I was looking through my inbox today at work, and fortunately, I have a bunch of old emails from you. And they made my smile. We are such nerds! But they also made me sad... the last thread of emails between us is from the day you stayed home sick the week before the world ended. Blah...
Anyways, I thought I'd "Forward" you one that made me smile. It's a really long thread that spans 2 days and was pretty pointless... Apparently we like to talk about the kids and food! Here it is:

with dark hair and glasses. I usually say hi to him and pat him on the

I was just thinking about it, and we basically have most of the “necessities”
for right when he’s born. We’ll be able to diaper him, feed him, and

to find the hardware for the bassinet, I think it’s downstairs somewhere…
hopefully in the box…

This Sucks!
Hey boo,
How's it going? I feel like this is going to be a depressing email... I'm not feeling very upbeat today...
Today, the girls got out their little seahorse that makes music, and the bug that lights up stars on the ceiling and plays music... When I heard the music, it brought me back to when we were still snuggling the girls to sleep, and it would take forever. We'd play that music hoping it would lull them to sleep. I don't think it ever really worked... Those memories hit me with an extra gigantic wave of sadness. I hate that I won't ever be able to talk to you again about the "early days" with the girls. Nobody knows what it was really like, except you. There isn't anybody to back up my stories, or fill in the blanks. And that really sucks.
I had the girls watch videos with you in them today. They were so fricken excited to see their Daddy. "Dada!!!" they both squealed and pointed at the screen. I think we watched videos for an hour! They just stood in front of the computer screen while I clicked through the videos. Sometimes, I just had one on repeat a bunch of times. They loved it. They were laughing at the fun things they were doing in the video. When they would fall, the would say "boom!" I mostly just sat their and cried. Seeing you in those videos makes this whole situation feel even more surreal... I don't know if surreal is the right word, but basically, I spend a lot of time thinking "is this real life?" And that's how I felt watching the videos. You were just here! How can it be that you won't be coming home again?!?!?! Have I mentioned how much this sucks?
Absolutely EVERYTHING I do reminds me of you. EVERYWHERE I look, I think of you. You should be sitting at the island "internetting" with me right now. If I look hard enough, I feel like I can almost see you sitting in your usual spot. But you're not really there, and I hate it. After the kids go to bed is probably the hardest part of my day. If I'm riding through the day at an 8 or 9 on the pain-scale, after bedtime it shoots up to a 10. You can't even imagine how much your absence is felt. It's so cheesy, but I honestly feel hollow inside because you took my heart with you. This is the SUCKIEST situation ever!
THIS SUCKS! THIS SUCKS! THIS SUCKS! THIS SUCKS! THIS SUCKS! THIS SUCKS!
Hey, in case you were wondering, THIS SUCKS!!!!
I don't really have anything else to say. Just please know that I miss you so much and that I'm "funneling" all my love into you.
Hearts.

Your Nutter Butter Kids!
Hey boo,
How's it going? Um, FYI, your kids are nutter butters... :-)
I wish you could see how much they've changed and grown over the past month. Seriously, I feel like I can tell that the girls are both a little taller, and Charlotte's legs seem a little less chubby. :-) But Violet is still her skinny-minny self. And Will's hair is starting to thin out on the sides and in the back, he sheds worse than the cat!
They have also learned so many new "tricks".
The other day, Charlotte did a somersault. TWICE! And a few attempts at it that were a little sideways, but still, where did she learn that?!?! Probably at school... I tried to get a video of it, but you know they never perform when the camera is on... Then, I asked Violet to do a somersault today, and I'm pretty sure she knew what I meant! She bent over and put her hands on the floor with her head down like she was about to somersault. But she didn't go through with it. She's so silly.
Will is "mobile" by rolling, and he can scootch himself around in a circle when he is on his belly. Oh yeah, and he LOVES his feet. He's always grabbing them and trying to put them in his mouth. When I'm changing his diaper, he's just sucking away on his toe. Gross-au-saurus!
Speaking of Will, we totally had an "is that poop?!?!" moment the other day. He was just jumping away in the jumperoo, and I just see it dripping down his leg and he's all jumping it in to the carpet. It was horrible. Plus this was happening during the time when I was trying to put the girls down to nap. As I'm wiping up Will I can hear the girls playing/laughing/talking in their room... And I know that they must have poopy diapers, because you know how as soon as we put them in their crib, they poop. So, I cleaned up Will as best I could and set him on a blanket on the floor, planning to spa him after I checked on the girls... Sure enough, both of the girls had poopy diapers... Ugh... I got them cleaned up, then Will got a spa. It was basically Poop City, USA in our house during that time... Awesome.
Ok, so anyways, back to my point about the kids changing... The girls have also learned so many new words, and they are starting to say really short sentences.
Today, we were reading the book "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?" And it went a little like this:
Me: "What color is the brown bear?"
Charlotte: "Lellow." (which means Yellow, of course)
Me: "No, it's brown sweetie. What color is the red bird?"
Charlotte: "Lellow."
Me: "No, it's red... What color is the blue horse?"
Charlotte: "Lellow."
Me: "Nope, it's blue. What color is the yellow duck?"
Charlotte: "Lellow."
Me: "Yay! Good job! It IS yellow."
So yeah, I think her favorite color is yellow...
Whenever I try to get Violet to count, it goes like this:
Me: "Violet, can you say 1?" (holding up 1 finger)
Violet: "Tooooo!"
Me: "Ok, yeah, good job, 2 comes next... but can you say 1?"
Violet: "Tooooo!"
Me: "Ok, good job... 1... 2... 3. Can you say 3?
Violet: "Teeeeee!"
Me: "Good job! Now can you say 1, 2, 3?
Violet: "Tooooo!"
I guess that means Violet's favorite number is 2...
I think Charlotte is still a little ahead of Violet on the whole vocabulary/speaking thing. I can think of a lot of phrases that Charlotte says, but not much for Violet. But we figured it would be that way anyways. Just like Violet's motor skills are a little ahead of Charlotte.
So, Charlotte's obsession is asking "Where are you?" She doesn't say it exactly like that, it's more like:
Beebee ahhhhrrre yooooo? (They actually just got some Fisher Price Little People, and one of them is a baby, so that is what she is looking for, not her brother.)
Ra-ow-rrr ahhhhrrre yooooo? (Means Teresa where are you? Teresa tends to sound a lot like how they say 'flower'.)
It's just really cute how she asks the question, dragging out the "are you".
Violet is obsessed with her feet lately. She puts them on everything! Feet on the book. Feet on the table. Feet on sister. Feet on Momma. Feet on Taggie! Seriously, she puts her favorite tag by her big toe, and then still does her little sucky motion with her mouth. Most of the time this feet thing is cute, except when she's putting them on Charlotte... Charlotte freaks out, saying "Feet! Feet!" because she doesn't want Violet's feet on her.
Speaking of Violet, I'm not really sure she is actually our child! She has WAY too much energy, she never sits still! You know how lazy we are, so I don't know where she gets it from... She does laps, running to the front door, then over to the laundry room, and back again (all while yelling her "aaahhh!" noise). Sometimes, she likes to take the most round about way to do this, climbing over their princess car, squeezing through the smallest space between the ottoman and the jumperoo... This girl is going to be the first to visit the ER, and you know I will be freaking out. Where can I find a helmet and enough bubble wrap to go around a toddler? :-)
Well, I guess that is a little snippet about what's been going on with the kids. I think they miss you. You were always the best at burning off their excess energy by throwing them around and being all wild with them. Now it's just gentle Momma, who "throws" them in the air, but really they never leave my hands. I think that's why they've been extra nutter-buttery lately, because they aren't getting that crazy time with you. They usually ask for you at dinner time, pointing to the door where you would walk in after work or pointing to the chair you usually sat in at the kitchen table, saying "Dada?" Those aren't my favorite moments... blah...
Anyways, I miss you a lot. I hope you like the random pics I included, like the random pics I would email you before when I was home with the kids. I'll try to keep you posted on any new sillyness that comes up with the kids. There's sure to be a lot of it!
LOVE!
Will just being all cute.
Charlotte flying a kite on Labor Day.
Violet attempting to fly a kite on Labor Day.
Just a little naked coloring in the morning.
I'm in the kitchen and hear Violet whining. This is what a find... That girl is the queen of nutter butters!

"Now I'm Depressed!"
Hey boo,
How's it going? Well, as I'm sure you are aware, things pretty much suck some serious balls over here...
I've been wanting to write things down, but I can hardly form a coherent, complete thought about anything. I just have random snippets of thoughts running through my head at all times. Seriously, it's a jumbled mess... You would probably call it a clusterfuck. But I figured I just need to start writing, and hopefully the thoughts would flow.
One of my random things that keeps running through my mind, is one of your favorite FRIENDS quotes. I know you always claimed you couldn't stand that show, but then anytime we were watching re-runs, you would laugh your head off. And of course there were the many times we'd lay in bed and watch the bloopers on YouTube before we went to sleep.
Anyways, its from "The One Where Nana Dies Twice." It's after their Nana's funeral, and they are at the little reception afterwards (What is that reception even called? I know that's not the right word...). Joey snuck in a portable TV and the men are "secretly" watching some big football game on it. Of course, a funeral is a somber occasion, but some major thing happens in the football game they are watching, and all the men scream "Ooohhh!" and throw their hands in the air (similar to what my family looks like when watching football, maybe a little more tame than that though). And Jack Geller (Ross and Monica's dad) yells "Now I'm depressed!". I know that was one of your favorite lines! I can still hear you laugh at it! You wanted me to use it as my quote for Jen's bachelorette party, but I didn't really think it was appropriate for such a celebration...
Here's a clip of what I'm talking about:
So yeah, "Now I'm depressed!" keeps running through my head. Of course, there is the main event of why I'm mega, super duper, crazy depressed. I lost my BEST FRIEND and the father of my children. That hurt is CONSTANTLY with me. But then there are all these additional little problems that keep coming up...
For example, my breast milk supply basically dropped to nothing (and you know what a diary cow I was before). Not nursing or pumping for over 24 hours, and a ridiculous amount of stress will do that to you. Or as you might say: "You'll get that." (I think college friends would understand that quote). I had to start pumping exclusively (and you know how much I loathe pumping)... I tried to bring my supply back up, pumping every 2 hours for 25 minutes, trying to stay hydrated (but you know my addiction to Diet Coke)... but I'd only get about 2 ounces per session! Ugh... And Will was eating 4-5 ounces every 3 hours. I just couldn't keep up with him, and our frozen supply was depleting quickly. I started supplementing with formula. And finally, I just said "Screw it! Ain't nobody got time for that!" :-) So I decided to completely wean Will, and go 100% formula with him.
And this whole thing makes me think "Now I'm depressed!"
Seriously, in the big scheme of things, is this really a big deal? Nope. But it really bums me out. It was always my goal to breast feed for at least 6 months, and I really thought with Will I'd be able to go longer, since I was able to actually nurse him and wasn't miserable from pumping. Plus, there was the convenience of being able to feed him anywhere and anytime, without having to lug around a cooler of bottles and try to figure out how we were going to warm them up. And I just loved the closeness with Will. Seriously, his little face when he fell asleep nursing was so incredibly cute (yeah, he's cute all the time, but this face was even cuter).
There are a lot of other little things like this. They are silly. They are minor in comparison to what's really going on. But they are there. And every time one comes up, "Now I'm depressed!" runs through my head. But that helps me realize that whatever this little problem is, it is LITTLE, and it's not that important, and I should not stress about it too much. [BTW, I just said the word "should" in the last sentence. I've been going to therapy, so remind me to tell you what my therapist taught me about the word "should".]
Anyways, that's my random thought for the day. Maybe I'll get to writing more down eventually. I really wish you could reply to this. I miss you times a billion.
But, I'll send you another one of your favorite FRIENDS scenes to make you smile (and maybe it makes me smile a little bit too) just like how we sent many random YouTube clips back and forth before...
